The founder of the institution, Poojya Sri Sridhara Swamiji, hailed from Shivamogga in Karnataka. He was called Sridhara at home. He imbibed from his parents – Sri Satyanarayana Rao and Smt. K S Padmavathi, a deep respect for Sri Satya Sai Baba and in keeping with this faith, he moved to his grand-mother’s house in Puttaparthi. With the divine inspiration received from Sri Sai Baba, he became a volunteer in Sri Satya Sai Baba’s ashram at Puttaparthi. Later as per directive of Baba, he took the vow of renunciation and adopted service as a monk. He then came to be known as Sridhara Swamiji.
